The aged care journey

We understand the aged care journey is not chosen; it is a natural progression that can be both healthy and positive, or impacted by illness, chronic health conditions or accidents.

When you are forced to consider in-home care options, whether this be as a result of a crisis, or a situation that has slowly developed, it is seldom planned. When this journey begins, it can be a stressful and emotional time for everyone involved. We know that deciding on the type of care and living arrangements for someone you love and care about is incredibly difficult.

You may be feeling confused, overwhelmed, tired and distressed.  The pressure on making a decision as to where your loved one is better off – in an accommodation setting (hostel or nursing home) or to remain living in the comfort of their own home, can be an extremely difficult one for all those involved.  The world of aged care may be new to you, and you may be still trying to understand the system while hurriedly being forced into making important and critical decisions about care arrangements, finances and health issues for someone very close to you.  Rest assured that these emotions are all very normal and shared by many.  At CareChoice we understand this can be a very difficult time and can assist you through the process to  make the decision that is right for you and your loved one.
