Community Care Services
Respite care is focused on the provision of short-term, temporary and emergency relief for primary carers of people who require significant or permanent care. A primary carer can be a family member such as a mother, father, partner, child, sibling, a close friend or neighbour who works tirelessly to ensure their loved one maintains the life in which they deserve. Respite provides a much needed break for families and other unpaid carers in order to support and maintain the primary care-giving relationship.
Our services may be organised at regular intervals, ad-hoc, or in response to an emergency or crisis situation.
We have no waiting lists, so you can feel confident we will be able to respond to your request in a timely manner.
CareChoice respite care is specifically designed to meet individual needs and may include:
CareChoice understands how difficult it can be to leave loved ones, and we work with you to ensure each CareChoice worker is suitably matched to individual needs.
Even though many families rightfully take great joy and pride in providing care to their loved ones so that they can remain at home, the physical, emotional and financial consequences for the primary caregiver(s) can be overwhelming without some form of respite.
Respite provides a well deserved break for the family caregiver, which is beneficial to their health and wellbeing, and has been shown to help avoid or delay residential placements. There is also much evidence to suggest that respite also provides a positive experience for the person receiving care.
If you are the person normally providing day-to-day care, contact us to find out how we can support you. Our respite services will give you a break and provide you with the opportunity to attend to tasks or activities on your own, confident in the knowledge that the person you care about is safe and in professional hands.
